“Can my bird travel to Australia?”

Hi PetRelocation,

I wanted to take my bird with me to Australia, and I have no idea how to do it. I don't even know where to start when it comes to doing stuff like getting permission for importing my bird to Australia.

Can you please give me a good answer?

Thank you,
Jeevi

Hi Jeevi,

Thank you for your question! Unfortunately birds cannot be brought into Australia from Thailand at this time due to the country's strict biosecurity rules. (You may have heard about the trouble Amber Heard and Johnny Depp recently had when they tried to skip the pet import process for their dogs -- it didn't go very well.)

Please refer to the official Australia governments website for more information about their animal import rules.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, Jeevi! If you decide to travel elsewhere with your bird and want to enlist some help, let us know by filling out our online pet travel consultation form. We've also put together a bird travel overview that can help you get started with the process if needed.

Good luck with everything, and thanks again for reaching out.
