Navigating Pet Travel to Kenya

Hi PetRelocation,

Have you helped move an animal from the US to Kenya? What is involved? Is there a quarantine upon arrival? Would there be any problems transiting through the EU?

Thanks,

Kandace

Hi Kandace,

Thank you for your question! Yes, we have helped several pets move to Kenya safely and would be happy to advise and/or assist you.

First, please review the pet import requirements for Kenya here. In our experience there is no quarantine for pets arriving into the country, however you will need an up to date rabies vaccine as well as an import permit and health certificate.

Transiting through the EU should not be a problem. For our clients' pets, we often fly with KLM and transit through Amsterdam and this is typically a smooth process.

For a better idea of what to expect, please read over these real life Kenya pet travel stories: Albus' trip from New York to Nairobi and Bear's journey (he was featured as a Pet Move of the Month). It may also be helpful to take a look at these frequently asked pet travel questions for general guidance about pet air travel.

Hope this helps! Contact us if you'd like to find out about our door-to-door pet move services and good luck with all your future pet travels.
