I have a 12 hour delay in Frankfurt until my next flight to Kiev. Do I need any paperwork specific for Germany? My cat will be in the pet location on the plane and will not go through customs. -William

Hi William,

Thanks for the question! Travelers with pets who have a layover in Frankfurt will be taken to the Lufthansa Animal Lounge - take a look at our previous coverage of this one-of-a-kind amenity. The lounge offers comfortable conditions for pets and streamlines the customs process. Here's the official web site.

In short, since it's just a layover you won't be required to secure any Germany-specific paperwork. Just make sure you meet the Pet Import Requirements for the Ukraine, and if you have further questions please feel free to give us a call. One of our Pet Relocation specialists would be happy to speak with you about pet travel and the services we offer.

Good luck with everything and happy traveling!
