Pet Air Travel to the United States from Canada

Hi PetRelocation,

I have two domestic cats (male and female). The male is sterilized, but the female is not. I'm going to move from Canada to San Francisco, CA.

What do I need to do? What steps do I have to take to transfer my cats successfully to the new place? What will the requirements be?

Thanks,

Polina

Hi Polina,

Thank you for submitting an inquiry to us! It doesn't matter whether or not your cats are spayed or neutered when flying internationally, but they will need to have a vet health certificate stating they are healthy and fit to fly. Please read more details about the pet import requirements for the United States.

Cats technically do not need to have updated rabies vaccines or microchips to travel to the US, but we do recommend these for all pets traveling internationally. We also recommend working to crate train your cats in order to alleviate any possible stress they'll feel during the flight.

If you have additional questions about the pet travel process to the United States, we recommend looking over these international pet travel tips, and if you're thinking of hiring assistance with this move, please fill out our online pet travel consultation form to connect with a Specialist and start discussing your move options.

Hopefully this helps to get you started, Polina. Good luck with your cats' relocation!
