Pet Friendly Airlines for Pet Travel to Spain

Hi PetRelocation,

Can you recommend an airline to move my dog to Spain? How can I find the best price?

Thank you,

Robert

Hi Robert,

Thank you for your question! It's certainly important to choose a pet friendly airline when planning international pet travel -- specifically, airlines that have established pet policies in place.

For our clients' flights, we often use British Airways, KLM, Lufthansa and United. These airlines keep pets in temperature controlled vehicles and have staff trained to handle pets. During the cargo flight, pets are also in a temperature and pressure controlled environment and are the last to be loaded and the first to be removed from the plane.

In addition to choosing a preferred airline, we also suggest helping your dog acclimate to the travel crate if she/he's not already and researching the pet import requirements in detail so that you can avoid problems and delays.

As for controlling the costs of your dog's move, we do have a few tips. These include buying a gently used travel crate if possible (since the integrity of a crate can impact a pet's safety, be sure you're using a crate that's in good shape) and planning carefully so as to avoid extra vet visits. Here's an overview of a few more ways to save money during a pet move.

Hopefully reading this information has been helpful! Contact us if you have additional questions or if you need help arranging your move, and good luck with everything.
