Pet Travel & Avoiding the Holiday Rush

Hi PetRelocation,

I'm looking into relocating and I need to bring my dog. I don't think she can go in the cabin since she has a height of 15 inches and a length of 21 inches, so I am looking for the safest way possible.

I know winter isn't a good time to move, but I was aiming for January/February. I'm looking for options to explore -- can you offer any suggestions?

Thanks,

Katie

Hi Katie,

Thank you for reaching out, we'd be happy to offer a few suggestions. First, it's possible to fly safely with pets during the winter months, but we do suggest avoiding the holidays because this can be a time where delays and obstacles are more common.

As you plan for a later January or February flight, we advise choosing a pet friendly airline, crate training your dog well in advance of the move, and securing your dog's vet health certificate in timely manner. For reference, here are the pet import requirements for the United States and here are a few tips for safe pet air travel.

If you decide you're interested in hiring assistance with your dog's move, feel free to fill out our online consultation form to connect with a Specialist. Hope this helps, good luck!
