Hello,

What do I need to do in order to move my cat from California USA to WA, Australia?

Thank You,

Raychell

Hi Raychell,

Moving pets to Australia can be a lengthy process, as there are lots of requirements that must be met within a specific time frame. Here are the pet import requirements for Australia. You'll notice that, because Australia is rabies-free, these requirements include a 30-day quarantine in an approved Australian quarantine facility.

In addition to meeting all of Australia's import requirements, you will need need to prepare your cat for air travel. Pet air travel requires an airline-approved travel crate. Check out our guide to choosing the right size crate for your pet, to make sure your crate will provide optimal comfort and safety to your kitty. The best way to ensure that your cat will be comfortable on the long flight to Australia is to make sure she is properly crate-trained, so be sure to check out our guide on how to crate train your cat. After taking care of all of these things, be sure to book a flight on a pet-friendly airline (we often use KLM, United, and Lufthansa).

This covers the basics of relocating a pet to Australia, but should you have any additional questions be sure to contact us. Thanks for your question and good luck with your move!
