Pet Travel Question: Pit Bull Travel Restrictions

Hi PetRelocation,

In 2010 we had huge problems bringing our Pit Bull to Germany due to various restrictions. We're now considering a relocation from Mexico to one of the above countries. Any advice you have is highly appreciated.

Gracias,
Gunnar

Hi Gunnar,

Thank you for your question -- we're sorry to hear about the challenges you've faced. Many airlines and countries are less than welcoming when it comes to Pit Bulls, but we'll try to help you with some information.

According to our recent research, Germany and Spain do not allow the import of Pit Bulls, and in Austria owners may be met with various restrictions. Here is more information about banned dog breeds around the world

It's always a good idea to double check with the relevant authorities before you go, and for more information you can take a look at our previous discussion of breed-specific travel issues on our blog.

Sorry we can't bring more positive news! Don't hesitate to contact us if you have any more questions or if you think you'd like some assistance, and good luck with everything.
