Pet Travel to Singapore & Dog Breed Restrictions

Hi PetRelocation,

Are there any restrictions for moving and owning a dog in Singapore?

Thanks,

Michelle

Hi Michelle,

Thank you for submitting a question to us. Singapore is somewhat strict when it comes to importing pets and keeping certain breeds of dogs. That doesn't mean it'll be impossible to move your German Shepherd there, but you'll need to be aware of a few things.

First, please look over the pet import rules for Singapore. Note there is a 10-day minimum quarantine upon arrival and the entire preparation process (securing all rabies vaccines, tests, permits, etc.) will take a few months. Please note also that beginning Jan. 1, 2016, all dog owners will need to apply for a dog license before applying for the import permit.

Additionally, German Shepherds are classified by the Singapore government as Part II Scheduled Dogs so you must follow various leash, muzzle and licensing rules as outlined here.

For more information, please read over these Singapore pet travel stories and feel free to contact us if you'd like some assistance arranging your dog's move. Hope this helps, Michelle! Good luck with everything.
