Dear PetRelocation,

Regarding the 30 day mandatory quarantine for Australia: Will they keep my dogs in a facility for 30 days when they arrive? I am not sure how all of that works. Getting the vaccines and tests is no problem, but I am not sure how it will work when I get to Sydney and I'd love to have some help.

Thanks!

Jill

Hi Jill,

Sure, we'd be happy to offer some advice about bringing your dogs to Australia. First, you should be aware that the import and quarantine rules are actually set to change in just a few days. Beginning Feb. 3, the standard quarantine for pets will be reduced from 30 days to 10.

The best way to figure it all out is to visit the Australia Government Department of Agriculture website directly and use the dropdown trip planning tool they have. You'll also find information about quarantine facilities and fees on the site.

We've helped many pets move to Australia and would be happy to assist you. Feel free to fill out our free quote form if you think you'd like some help, and for your further information, read more about some of the pets we've moved to Sydney. Meet Desmond and Wesley, Austin and Chunk, and take a look at this video of Tilly in Sydney quarantine.

Finally, here are some tips for Australia expats from a blogger friend of ours. Hope this has been helpful... good luck with everything!
