Welcome to week two of our Pet Friendly Airline Series! Last week we covered JetBlue's pet-friendly features, and this week we're turning our attention to Lufthansa, one of the world's busiest airlines and a frequent choice for pet travelers.

This Germany-based airline flies more passengers than any other airline in Europe and has put much effort into accommodating the needs of pet owners. Lufthansa flies pets in the cabin and cargo hold of its passenger planes, and they also have a separate cargo division that transports pets -- Lufthansa Cargo.

In addition to providing a pet-friendly travel experience, they also offer the Lufthansa Animal Lounge in Frankfurt, where pets can spend their layovers in comfort.

So how pet-friendly is Lufthansa? How do you book a flight with them? What will the experience be like for you and your pet? Check back with us throughout the week as we tell you what you need to know about pet-friendly Lufthansa Airways!

I have to say VIRGIN is the best. They allow dogs in the cabin without cages.

I was disappointed with Lufthansa regarding mice. Apparently I need to put my mice in their transportation program (not take the mice onboard with me), and this would require driving to Frankfurt from Berlin. Not many airlines will let people carry mice these days, but Lufthansa's program was not much more pet friendly. which is okay, they are a business, I was just disappointed.
