Subject: Moving Pets to USA from Spain

Question: Hello!

We have two cats and we live in Spain. We want to transport them from Spain to the USA. Can you please advise how we go about this and what services are available. We have them vaccinated for rabies and the usual cat vacs, but not the blood test, so we cannot take them into the UK.

So, we need a way of transporting them to Florida from Malaga without entering the UK.

Any advice you can offer would be much appreciated.

Kind Regards

Andrew

Answer: Hello Andrew!

All that you will need to get your cats into the US from Spain is a rabies certificate and an international health certificate issued by your government approved vet. For more information on these requirements and their timelines, please see the USA Import Requirements on our website. Also, you do not need to go through the UK. There are many flight choices available without having to transit via the UK. Assuming the destination is Miami, a few airlines you might consider using are:

Iberia - transit through Madrid

American Airlines - transit through Madrid

Air France - transit through Paris

Alitalia - transit through Rome

Swiss Air - transit through Zurich

Air France/American Airlines - transit through New York

In other words, there are a ton of options.

Hope this information helps! Also, this is a service we could absolutely provide for you. If you have any questions or would like more information on our services, our EU Specialist, Matt Johnson, would be happy to help you! His email address is mathews[at]petrelocation[dot]com. Have a safe trip!
