As the resident social media guru/addict (depending on who you ask), I often find myself answering questions like "What's the point of Twitter?" or "Why do you keep writing blogs all the time?" Fortunately, our CEO Kevin O'Brien is also progressive when it comes to online outreach, and has embraced the social media world for what it truly is: a chance to give yourself or your company a voice, while helping others in the process. A good example of this platform's benefits can be found in Darby, the German Shepherd.
Last night I noticed this "tweet" from one of our followers:
Darby, whose owner passed away while on
vacation in Panama, needs a home. It's always a delicate event when moving people's pets to a new home after their owners have passed on -- pets are usually distressed, confused or both, and the family members left to arrange a place for the pet to live are dealing with the grieving process while also trying to find a new home for them.
Darby's current caretaker, a PR and communications expert named Shonali, decided to reach out to the social media world. In the new age of inbound marketing, what better way to find a pet in a difficult situation a new home than reaching out to the rest of the country?
That's why PetRelocation.com has offered to arrange the door-to-door pet transportation of Darby to her new home -- wherever that may be. As I wrote in my comment to Shonali on her blog post about Darby:
Darby will get the same first-class treatment that our customers receive — door-to-door, climate controlled [pet] transportation to and from the airports, a flight on a climate-controlled, pet-friendly airline, and all the pet moving resources and assistance that we provide our two-legged customers — free of charge. We believe social media can help Darby find a new home — and we’d love to be a part of that success.
So if you know of someone who would like to take in Darby, be sure to let Shonali know. We'll take care of getting her there safely.
Rachel, you, Kevin & PetRelocation are the best. Thank you!
Hope Darby finds a great home. He's beautiful! I wish I could but I already have 2 dogs & 2 cats. Good luck!
Please keep us updated. I'd love to know when (not if) Darby finds a new home. Sweet girl.
