Continental Airlines PetSafe to Begin Flights to and from Edmonton

Pet owners traveling to or from Edmonton, Canada (Airport code:  YEG) will soon have a new "pet friendly" option for their trip. Continental has announced new non-stop service from Houston, TX to Edmonton International Airport beginning Nov. 1, 2009, subject to government approval.  Pets flying under the Continental Pet Safe program 

The service will be operated using a Boeing 737-500 aircraft, which means that pets traveling in crates up to size #500 will be able to fly on this new route.  Bigger dogs in #700 series pet travel crates and custom crates will not fit on this type of aircraft.

From the release:

The daily flight is the 11th Canadian destination to be served by CO and the fourth Canadian destination from IAH. The flights from IAH will depart at 6 p.m. and arrive at YEG at 9:25 p.m. Return flights will depart YEG at 6:40 a.m. and arrive at IAH at 11:56 am.

“We are pleased to add Edmonton to our portfolio of Canadian destinations,” said Marketing Executive VP Jim Compton. “The flight allows connections to Continental’s vast network across the Southern United States, Mexico and Latin America.”
