Delta Airlines Will Use Air Conditioned Pet Vans for Pets During Transfers

By Pet Relocation, admin

Last week, Delta Airlines Cargo announced that this summer they will be offering flight transfers for pets in specialized air conditioned vehicles at their hub in Atlanta, GA.  From Delta's press release:

Temperature controlled vehicles provide a comfortable environment for the pet during transfer in our Atlanta hub.  In addition, it helps ensure that we are compliant with USDA regulations for safe shipment of live animls.

As airlines look for ways to not only stay profitable but also competitive in the pet shipping market, moves like Delta's are great steps forward in keeping pets safe while flying and we hope to see more of them.  Continental still boasts most of the market share, particularly with their year-round policy of transferring pets in air conditioned vehicles at all of their major hubs.

Delta says that temperature restrictions will still apply to snub-nosed breeds and normal kenneling requirements will still be in effect at the station of origin as well as during the transfer.  This is the second year that pets will be moved by air conditioned vehicles at Delta's Atlanta-Hartsfield hub.

What do you think?  Does Delta's decision to move pets in air conditioned vans at their hub make you feel better about using them to fly your pets?  Let us know in the comments section.
