ISRAEL PET IMPORT RULES AND REQUIREMENTS

1) Microchip:  Each Pet shall be identified by means of a microchip.  No other form of identification is acceptable. The microchip used should comply with ISO Standard 11784 or Annex A to ISO standard 11785- otherwise the pet will need to be sent with it’s own scanner attached to the top of the crate.

2) All animals need to have Full Vaccinations:

Dogs:  Distemper, Hepatitis, Parvo, Leptospirosis, (DHLPP) and Rabies within the last 12 months or a minimum of 4 weeks before arrival.

Cats:  Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus, Panleukopenia (FVRCP), and Rabies within the last 12 months or a minimum of 4 weeks before arrival. 

3) Rabies Titer / FAVN-OIE Tests:  FAVN or Fluorescent Antibody Viral Neutralization (FAVN) Blood Test is to ensure that the rabies vaccinations have provided adequate rabies antibody levels and will need to be approved by an approved Government Facility  prior to export (i.e. the USDA).

To obtain a Rabies Titer/FAVN test:

Your vet will need to send a serum sample, accompanied by a completed FAVN Report Form, to the Kansas State University lab* to do the FAVN test. The Kansas State Lab will then send the FAVN Report Form with the results of the test back to the submitting clinic.

If the FAVN test is approved:

4)  Israel Pet Health CertificateIsrael Pet Health Certificate This health certificate that needs to be completed by your vet within 10 days of departure.

5) USDA Endorsement:  The below referenced forms:

  • Microchip Implantation Record
  • Rabies Certificate
  • Israel Pet Health Certificate

Must be sent to your local USDA for their stamp of approval.  Please contact your PetRelocation.com representative on the best way of handling this.

6)  All original documentation listed above must travel with the pets.

7)  In order for us to successfully clear customs we will need the following documents supplied prior to the animal’s arrival:

·     Copy of Pet Owner’s Passport

·     Note from Pet Owner’s Employer for the Relocation

Climate

Israel has pronounced seasonal variation, and summers and winters can often get pretty severe. Southern Israel tends to cook in July and August, with the mercury climbing beyond 40°C (104°F); it's almost constantly dry as well. Elsewhere, November to March are significantly rainy months. Things are a tad cooler in the north with summer highs around 30°C (86°F) and winter lows sometimes below zero.
