SERBIA PET IMPORT RULES AND REQUIREMENTS

1) Pet passport/General vaccination information (rabies, DHPP, bordatella, etc.)

2) ISO-compatible Microchip

3) International Health Certificate - certificate from official or government approved veterinarian that pets are rabies-free.

4) Rabies vaccination - can't be less than 15 days and not older than 6 months at the time of importation.

In Serbia ahead of time you will need to obtain import quarantine permit and import permit. This may take up to 20 days as unfortunately the veterinarian sanitary inspection isn't very quick.

To apply for these permits you'll need to contact a pet transport service or a customs agent who will need:

-The address where you will live in Belgrade

- Telephone number in Belgrade

- Full name and a copy of your passport.

The permit will state any special requirements for quarantine and for import, if any.

The permit is valid for 3 months from date of issuing.

If consignee is not a Serbian citizen, our customs agent advises the following:

By immigration law owner/consignee needs to go to the police and give them address where he will live in Belgrade.  They will issue a 'white card' with his name and address.

That must be done within 24 hours from his/her entry to Serbia.

We need to have white card prior to import of pet (need to show that to customs at airport for clearance). Customs duties and taxes must be paid by consignee.

When pet is imported, some vet stations in certain municipalities require additional check up of the pet.

Quarantine:

Quarantine is done at owner's residence in Serbia and it is 21 days long. Pet is at all times with their owner. As soon as pet arrives to owners home in Serbia, the owner needs to contact vet station in his municipality and inform them that pet has arrived and that quarantine period starts. Some vet stations are insisting in having an additional check up of the pet during quarantine period.
