Pet Travel Question: Moving Birds to India

Hi PetRelocation,

I bought one green parrot here in Dubai and want to take this parrot to my home in India. What documents are required and which airlines can I choose from?

Someone told me that I need to prepare a document like a passport for my parrot, so please advise me about all the details so I can take my parrot home.

Thanks,
Flavy

Hello Flavy,

Thanks for contacting us with your question. Unfortunately, birds cannot be imported to India at this time due to the threat of Avian Flu. Sorry to be the bearer of this news.

In general, international bird travel requires plenty of planning and attention to detail (but isn't necessarily impossible), so we suggest taking a look at these bird travel tips if you ever decide to move to a different place with your parrot.

If you have other pets you may be moving to India, take a loot at the India pet import requirements along with these frequently asked pet travel questions. When traveling with pets, it's important to research all rules and requirements, choose a pet friendly airline, and purchase an airline approved pet travel crate.

Please let us know if you have any questions about this, and if you ever need pet transport assistance in the future, you're welcome to reach out to us here for a consultation.

Good luck and thanks again for reaching out!
