Pet Travel Question: Transiting through Frankfurt

Hi PetRelocation,

What are the requirements for traveling through Frankfurt Airport, Germany while in transit to Azerbaijan? Is there anything special I need to know?

Thanks,
David

Hello David,

Thanks for the question! Generally, when briefly transiting through an airport it's not necessary to meet that particular country's import requirements. Only if you're leaving the airport or changing airlines do you need to worry about meeting additional import requirements.

If you're flying with Lufthansa and have enough time, you'll be able to take advantage of the Lufthansa Animal Lounge, where pets follow one of three routes and will be allowed to take a break from the confines of their travel crate, etc. It's a pretty nice set-up!

For your information, here are the pet import requirements for Azerbaijan.  You can also review pet export information from the USDA here

Hope this helps! Please contact us if you'd like some help arranging your move, and good luck with everything.
