Regulations for Importing Cats to Singapore

Attention: Precise regulations can change at any time, so be sure to double check with the appropriate authorities or with your PetRelocation Consultant to find the most current and accurate information available.

Origin Country
Import guidelines vary depending on the country of origin, but cats coming from the United States, the EU, or another country where the rabies risk is controlled can use the following overview for guidance (please see your Relocation Coordinator if you have questions about your country’s rabies status).

Note: when your veterinarian issues your cat’s health certificate, they will need to state that your cat has been living continuously in the country of export for at least six months.

Microchip
Each cat shall be identified by means of a microchip. No other form of identification is acceptable. The microchip used should comply with ISO Standard 11784 or Annex A to ISO standard 11785, and AVID 9-digit chips are accepted as well.

Rabies Vaccines and Paperwork

All cats entering Singapore must have two original Rabies Certificates, a rabies blood test (performed between the first and second rabies vaccines), a vet health certificate (the APHIS 7001, for example), an AVA Veterinary Certificate, an Import Permit, and government endorsements of the required forms. Please see our main Singapore pet transport page for more information about these requirements.

Other Vaccinations (List on Separate Certificate)

  • Cat Flu (Feline calcivirus, Feline viral rhinotracheitis)*
  • Cat Enteritis (Feline Panieukopaenia)*

*Must be administered at least two weeks prior to import

Quarantine
There is a 10-day mandatory quarantine upon arrival in Singapore for cats coming from many countries, including the US, Canada, Netherlands, Belgium and Spain. This cannot be avoided. Reservations must be made with the Singapore Animal Quarantine Station prior to arrival.

Note that Singapore's quarantine facilities are among the nicest in the world, and in our experience cats handle the quarantine experience with no ill effects. You can find out more about Singapore quarantine facilities on our blog.

Breed Restrictions

First to fourth generation Bengal and Savannah cats are prohibited from entering Singapore. Pet owners with either of these breeds must show documentation that their pets are at least fifth generation Bengal or Savannah.
