Cat Travel from France to the United States

Hi PetRelocation,

I just came to Paris last month and brought my cat with me. I did all the proper paperwork to get him here legally. I'm looking to go back to the US at the beginning of September. What do I need?

I still have all of his paperwork from bringing him over. Should I treat it as if he was never originally from the US? Thank you for your help.

Hi Danielle,

Thank you for your question! It won't make much of a difference that your cat started in the United States -- you'll probably just be ahead of the game because you know what to expect from pet travel and he is most likely still up-to-date on his rabies vaccine.

As you'll see when you review the pet import requirements for the United States (which are really pretty lenient), all you need is an international health certificate stating your cat is healthy and fit to fly. If you'd like to brush up on additional pet travel best practices, please take a look at these frequently asked pet travel questions.

It sounds like you're in a pretty good position to plan your return trip because pet travel to the United States is a bit simpler than pet travel to France, but if you have more questions or would like some help arranging this move, please contact us for a pet travel consultation.

Hope this helps. Thanks again and good luck with everything!
