Pet Travel Question: Can Pit Bulls go to Ecuador?

Does Ecuador Have a Pit Bull Breed Ban?

Hi PetRelocation,

How can I bring my Pit Bull to Ecuador? She is a rescue with CGC (Canine Good Citizen) Certification and she may be mixed with another breed, but we don't know.

She's very submissive with no bad history, and the bulldog is also a rescue. Will there be any problems? I've already bought a place in Cuenca, but cannot move without my dogs.

I LOVE THEM!

Thanks so much, - Dori

Hi Dori,

Thanks for checking in with us. Unfortunately, Ecuador instituted a ban on pit bulls beginning in 2009. Please check with the local authorities for up-to-date regulations, but as they currently stand it appears that -- regardless of your dog's good behavior -- she won't be allowed entry into the country.

Sorry to be the bearer of this news! Find out more about the general pet import requiremens for Ecuador as well as information about Breed-Specific Legislation on our site, and feel free to contact one of our Pet Relocation Consultants for more information about pet travel.

Good luck with everything, and please let us know if we can be of assistance with anything else.
