Petrelocation.com - For all customers planning on pet moving or importing their pets to New Zealand, the following import health standards have been amended:

Dogs and cats from the United Kingdom dated 8 December 2005 Dogs and cats from Singapore dated 8 December 2005 Dogs and cats from the Republic of Ireland dated 8 December 2005 Dogs and cats from Norway dated 8 December 2005 Dogs and cats from Sweden dated 8 December 2005 Dogs and cats from Hawaii dated 8 December 2005 Dogs and cats from Australia dated 18 May 2007

Tick inspections at the border on dogs and cats from rabies free countries have been under review. There have been an increased number of tick interceptions recently and a recognised need to ensure that all animals are being inspected. Fractious animals have previously been exempt from inspection.

Additional measures have been included in the clearance section to allow for the inspection of fractious animals in a transitional facility. The option of having associated bedding treated has been removed and toys and garments have been added to bedding as associated goods that must also be destroyed.

Additional details regarding the time to clear the animals and the contact details of the 3 ports involved have also been added.

We also took the opportunity to clarify the endoparasite treatment clause in Veterinary Certificate A to ensure that the animal receives two treatments, at least 14 day apart in the 30 days before departure.
