PET FRIENDLY TRAVEL TO COASTAL GREECE

Family holidays these days include venturing out with the family pet as well as the kids, and luckily its rather simple these days as itҒs really very common! When you think about it really; our furry friends are just like our children as we feed them, clean up after them, groom them, praise them, and love them- so why shouldn't we take them along? Ok, so lets get set to visit the beautiful Greek coast with the entire crew! ItҒs simply a matter of familiarizing yourself with the pet policies of the airline you are flying with and getting some pet friendly tips about Greece!

Pet friendly days out and attractions:

Holidays in the coastal areas of Greece and neighboring Cyprus promise warmth and hospitality from and a fascinating variety of interesting places to visit with your favourite new traveling buddy! Greece has an incredible heritage that covers all areas of refined culture, political ideals, science, mathematics and philosophy.

With a dry, sunny Mediterranean climate and surrounded by clear blue waters, the Greek coastal resorts and scenery make it an ideal holiday, but the fantastic food and drink and the friendly local people add to the attraction.

Do also visit the Arcadian ruins and historic monasteries and castles of Cyprus where legend has it that the Greek goddess of love Aphrodite rose from the sea right here- okay, so Fido wont find that terribly exciting but your partner may!

Do relax and unwind on one of the great beaches, enjoy the dramatic scenery or just chill because you can! Fido wonҒt mind. Check out the Messinian Peninsular where you can discover the archaeological heritage of the area.

With so much to do at many of the resorts along the entire Greek coastline you wont find time to get bored! ThereҒs windsurfing, sailing and bike riding to mention just a few activities. Also enjoy a day trip to the southern tip of Greece by car and dont forget to pack a picnic lunch for everyone, including your family pooch!

Cuisine and eating out:

As anyone who has visited Greece will tell you, eating and drinking is a way of life that includes big trays of spanakopita or mousaka with big chunks of feta cheese! Why itҒs certainly a great idea to cook yourself a meal or two; when in Greece- it is imperative that you also try the local cuisine! They use fresh vegetables and they don't over-power with spices, but best of all it comes with the whole package of wine and conversation that can go all afternoon or all night long. This is experiencing the Greek way of eating! Friendly Greek hospitality will welcome your loveable furry friend as well, but again do check first perhaps by enjoying some strong black coffee and water for the thirsty four legged patron after a leisurely stroll around one of the coastal towns? Ask anyway!

Pet friendly accommodation:

The gorgeous beaches of Greece offer outstanding accommodation options for you and your family as well as Fido! You can opt for self-catering in a villa or apartment or even camping if thats more your style. Here are some hotels that may be worth looking at as they welcome pets any time.

  • Faedra Beach Hotel: The 4 star Ammoudara Beach hotel is located on the quiet and sandy beach of Ammoudara and located close to restaurants that offer nice meals.
  • Miramare Luxury Villas: Renovated in 2003 This Hotel is Spread Over 3 Floors and Comprises 160 Rooms of Which 6 Are Suites.
  • Best Western Coral Hotel: The Coral sits right on the waterfront of Paleo Faliro an elegant seaside suburb of Athens overlooking the Saronic Gulf.

Finally; it is common sense to take a little time when researching your holiday destination before you leave to ensure that your loving family and precious pet have a happy and safe trip without any hitches along the way. So enjoy the great Mediterranean weather and beaches together!
