As many of you know, we work with PetCo.com on the sale of their pet travel products, that we approve, to our customer base! This partnership has proven to be great for not only the two of us, but mostly for our customers! Our customers are given the ability to quickly find the products they are looking for, see the selection that we recommend, enjoy free delivery on select items AND are given the ability to purchase these products at a reduced rate.

The travel crate is by far the most important 'item' you will purchase during the relocation of your pets. Many are unaware of just how important the crate you buy is to the overall process. The number one mishap when buying a pet travel crate, is the size of them!

The size of your pet's travel crate - particularly by air, is governed by legislation and it is critical to ensure your container is of the correct minimum dimensions and has the necessary and adequate ventilation required. The internal crate measurement has to be greater than the length of your pet, by at least 2 inches - allowing enough space for your pet to stand up, turnaround and lie down with legs out. This is so important, as the airlines or the drivers will reject your shipment if any part of your pet touches, or comes close to touching, the crate. Please make sure your pets have the adequate room needed to enjoy a comfortable journey!

Below is an outline of how best to measure your pet:

A) The Length of your pet when standing; Base of Tail to Tip of Nose

Օ B) The Height of your pet when standing: Floor to Top of Head or Ear

Even though you assume your cat will fit into the smallest one, or that your Great Dane will fit into the largest one - you will have to measure your pets to make sure the right size is purchased!

No Wire Crates or Collapsible crates should be used! Simply put.

Please do not forget our last post on Crate Training your Pet - as this is the most important thing you can do for your moving pets!
