Craig K.
Kampala,
UG

I am planning to leave Uganda within the next 4 months. I have a wonderful Ugandan dog. She has been vaccinated on 6 weeks, 8 weeks & 12 weeks against Parvovirosis and after 12 weeks against Rabies. She is due for her annual vaccines again in March. However, I keen to find out what the quarantine and other restrictions are for a dog from Uganda into the U.K. Ive read about the PETS scheme but would that apply to me? Thank you, Craig

Hello Craig,

Thank you for your inquiry. As you've probably read, the UK is rabies free so it requires pets to travel from an "approved country" under the PETS Travel Scheme. For a list of the approved countries, check out the DEFRA Approved Countries List.

In your case, Uganda is not an approved country, so you could not send your dog directly from Uganda to the UK. You would first need to send your dog to an approved country (like the US, for example) and then have your dog spend 6 months in the US fulfilling the import requirements for the UK. For a complete list of import requirements for the UK (when coming from an approved country), you can check out PetRelocation.com's UK Import Requirements.

If you're interested in having us assist you with your dog's transportation to the UK, specifically with regards to assisting you with the UK pre-import requirements, we can certainly help you. Feel free to email us directly. We'd love to help!

Cheers!

Hello, I am looking at relocating 2 medium sized dogs from Sri Lanka to Uganda. Both dogs are up to date on vaccinations however I do not think they have had hepatitis. Is it feasible for you to arrange this. I would look at putting them on an Emirates flight. Am interested in your response.
