If the "world's largest Beagle" hotel isn't your style, why not travel to another destination known for being pet friendly.  The top 5 pet-friendly travel US cities were announced this week* and are as follows:

1.  Portland, OR (PDX) - Topping the list, Portland boasts beautiful gardens and parks that are pet friendly - and safe!  Each summer, one park (the Grotto) hosts a Blessing of the Animals.  To top it off, the Hotel Monaco has a "Director of Pet Relations" named Art, a golden Labrador, who will make sure your pet-guest is enjoying his or her stay!

2.  New York, NY (JFK/LGA/EWR) - For the discriminating pet owner, the Big Apple is a great stop on your summer pet travel list.  If you must travel solo, the Soho Grand Hotel will loan you a fish to keep you company (we've had a customer try it!).  Organized dog-and-me outings are also available to tourists.

3.  San Diego, CA (SAN) - Is surf more your pet's style than turf?  Check out San Diego's "Dog Beach" where your pet can play in the sand, or even attend a Padres baseball game with your pooch during their "Dog Days of Summer!"

4.  Colorado Springs, CO (COS) - With 10,000 acres of outdoor park space, including 7 of which that are designated dog parks, this city with a small town feel is a sporting breed's dream!

5.  Orlando, FL (MCO) - Dream big!  Disney has five kennels and the area is rife with pet friendly lodging for families and their four-legged members.  there's even a "doggie dining" law that allows pets to accompany owners in all outdoor areas.

Happy pet & jet setting!
