Pet Travel to England from China

Dear PetRelocation,

How much would it be to move cats from China to the UK, and what are the requirements? Do you have any recommended airlines with good records in pet travel?

Thanks,
Katie

Hi Katie,

Thanks, that's a great question. First, we definitely recommend looking over the pet import information for the UK via the official government website. These frequently asked pet travel questions (and answers) also provide a good starting point for planning an international pet journey.

As far as airlines, we often use KLM, Lufthansa, British Airways and United for our clients' pets due to their pet safe practices. We suggest researching various routes to see which of these carriers might be able to work for your cats' trip.

As far as costs, you'll need to factor in airline fees, travel crates (if you don't have them already), vet visits, any vaccines that are necessary, and health paperwork. If you hire any professional assistance with the move for airport delivery, customs clearance or anything else, this will add to the overall cost, of course. It's tough to give you precise estimate because so many factors are involved, but you can expect to spend several hundred dollars and maybe even a few thousand when it's all said and done.

As your cats will most likely be flying via cargo, we also recommend helping them to get used to their airline-approved travel crates with these pet crate acclimation tips.

If you think you'd like to hire some assistance with your move, please fill out our online consultation form at your convenience. With a few more details, one of our Specialists will be able to tell you more about your move options and our door-to-door services.

Hopefully this helps to get you started, Katie. Just let us know if we can be of further assistance, and good luck with everything!
