Welcome to the finale of our Singapore Pet Travel Spotlight series. After successfully relocating your pet to Singapore and completing quarantine requirements, it's time to focus on settling in and enjoying life with your furry companion in one of the most pet-friendly cities in the world.
From dog parks and cat cafes to veterinary services and outdoor activities, Singapore offers abundant resources for pet owners. Let's explore some of the best ways to thrive with your pets in this vibrant city-state!
Finding a trusted veterinarian is essential for your pet's well-being. Here are some clinics to consider in Singapore:
It's also always a good idea to have a boarding facility in mind where you feel comfortable leaving your pet. Here are several that come recommended to us.
Buying food online may be your best bet. Here are a few retailers to check out, especially if you're looking for specialty, raw, or freeze-dried food.
Singapore has many pet "cafes" -- establishments that not only tolerate the presence of dogs and cats but even welcome them. Here are a few places that, in addition to offering menu items for people, host dog meet-ups and have pet-friendly hang-out areas and treats. (Offerings and hours vary so check each website before you go.)
Dog-centric Singapore has plenty of dog runs and fenced areas for canines to socialize and exercise.
Singapore's parks allow city dwellers to escape to nature for picnics, swimming, sports, and more. These treasured scenic getaways are pet friendly as long as dogs are kept on a leash.
Many outdoor areas are popular with runners, walkers and general outdoor explorers. While not specifically created for dog recreation, they are dog friendly as long as you follow the rules (keep pets on a leash, clean up after yourselves, etc.).
Here are a few tips and anecdotes we've received from our agents and former clients living in Singapore:
"Tick and Flea treatment is highly recommended as ticks are highly prevalent in our climate!"
"As many Muslims live in Singapore, pets are not allowed to roam freely in most shopping malls and cafes, and taxis may not readily accept 4-legged passengers, so always best to call the drivers to check beforehand or book a pet taxi."
"(Our dog) has found a new love for aircon just like we have and has a short new hairdo to match the weather. As long as we keep him on short walks and his water bowl filled, he's a happy dog."
"We live right on the river, so (our dog) loves his daily walks and trips around town and to the dog parks."
"Gabo has adapted very well to his new place. He is taking long walks around one of Asia's most beautiful and exciting places!"
Finally, met a few pets who have traveled to Singapore and shared their experiences.
