How to Help the People and Pets Affected by the Oklahoma Tornado

In times of tragedy, it's heartening (and inevitable) that plenty of people will step forward to help those in need.

In the wake of yesterday's devastating tornado near Oklahoma City, the surrounding communities are pitching in to offer shelter and aid to those affected. We've gathered a few resources below, including information about how to find and help the pets who have been displaced.

-To make general donations, visit redcross.org, dial 1-800-REDCROSS or text REDCROSS to 90999 to make a $10 donation.

-Other nonprofits are taking donations as well, including Salvation Army, Feed the Children, and the Regional Foodbank of Oklahoma.

-A Facebook group called Moore Oklahoma Tornado Pets Lost & Found has been formed to help reunite people with their lost animals.

-The Bella Foundation SPCA says: "The Animal Resource Center at 7949 S. I-35 Service Road is accepting both people and dogs who need a shelter. If someone finds a dog they can bring it here. If the animal needs veterinary care, volunteers are standing by to transport."

-According to the Penn South Pet Clinic, veterinary assistance and pet supplies are being offered at the Home Depot in Moore and they're also housing displaced animals.
