A Pet’s Relocation

Pets are mans' true companions and no one can deny the fact that they are true to their master in all possible ways. Therefore relocating a pet to wherever they need to go is understandable. It is a matter of great concern to many when the issue of relocation starts. It creates a great anxiety in the minds of the people who own them, as many feel that the country where they have decided to relocate their pets too, should have feasible and less severe rules and regulations associated with their pet relocation.

Almost every nation has their own law regarding pet animals. Many countries fear the spread of contagious diseases or viruses through unidentified and insecure pet relocations. As a precaution they ask for some legal formalities and medical tests to be conducted and certified by qualified veterinarians. The pet usually should be protected against rabies and other dangerous diseases. Proper and timely vaccination will ensure the immediate gate pass or an entry into the respective country.

Certain countries like The United Kingdom are very serious when the issue of pet imports comes up. All kinds of complex tests and formalities are strictly followed unlike many other EU countries. They have a program called The PETS Travel Scheme is accepted as the trusted procedure for importing pets into the UK. If your pet dog or cat is to be eligible for this pet scheme it should first be a proud owner of a micro chip fitted somewhere in its physical body. Vaccination for rabies is a must and various tests conducted at the approved labs. The pet cannot re-enter or come into the UK after 6 months from the successful blood tests. It needs to be retested for its re-entry.

Most important factor is that a certified veterinarian should issue a pet passport after de-worming the pet against ticks and tape worm. And these tests should be conducted with 48 hours of the travel and not before 24 hours too. The pets are then allowed to travel through the approved rail, sea or air routes. The approved pet carriers will then take charge of the handling and safe arrival of your pet. Dont forget to book in advance and start all the pet testing in time. It is most advisable to get the help of pet shippers or pet movers who will take care of every detail. They are also knowledgeable about the procedures pertaining to different countries and they will make this pet relocation work less stressful for you.

Certain breeds of dogs are banned and can not be brought into Great Britain. You might be prosecuted or the dog might meet its punishment if this law is ignored. It is always good to check with the animal welfare organization for further details and guidance. UK has a dangerous Wild Animals Act which bans pets which are dangerous like few species of the Canidae (dog) and Felidae (cat) families. Unlike domestic dogs many hybrid dogs are scanned under this dangerous wild animalҒs act 1976. Therefore unless you are sure and confident of all the rules dont even think of relocating the pet as a failed attempt might always minimize the chances for your pet to be relocated wherever you want.
