AllExperts Question:  Five dogs from Costa Rica to the UK

Name: Caroline

Subject: Pet travel From Costa Rica to Pet Friendly England

Question: I am currently living in Costa Rica, and have managed to collect 5 dogs on my way!

I am considering moving back to England next year and cannot find the rules of taking the dogs with me online.

What would I need to do (if its possible to do it at all) to be able to take them with me?

They have all had all their vaccines and are all very well cared for.

Many thanks

Caroline

Answer: Hello Caroline!

A move from Costa Rica to the UK can be tricky. First off, Costa Rica is not an approved country for import into the UK. The dogs would first need to go to an approved country, such as the US for example, and stay there for a period of 6 months and meet all the import requirements for the UK (microchip, rabies vaccine, titre test). For more information on the import requirements into the UK please see our UK Import Rules & Requirements on our website.

This is something we could absolutely help you out with, and our UK Specialist, Scotty Walkwitz, would be happy to give you more information and answer any questions you may have. His email address is Scotty[at]petrelocation[dot]com. Good luck and have a great move!
