Are Pit Bulls Banned in Puerto Rico?

Hi PetRelocation,

Am I able to bring my Pit Bull to Puerto Rico with me?

Thanks,

Chris

Hi Chris,

Thanks for your inquiry... Unfortunately it appears that Pit Bulls have been banned in Puerto Rico for several years. You can find more information here.

Hopefully this isn't a permanent situation, but right now Pit Bull travel does often require extra work and you will probably encounter restrictions in many places. If you're considering moving somewhere else with your dog you can review the list above and take a look at this Pit Bull travel resource to find out where you can go and where you can't.

Same goes with airline rules; for example, we often use United because of its PetSafe program, and while they do accept Pit Bulls (who are either six months or older or at least 20 pounds), these dogs must travel in reinforced crates. Find more information here.

Sorry to be the bearer of this news, Chris.

Please contact us if you have any more questions, and good luck with everything.
