Is it possible to bring a pet hen to the Isle of Wight? If so, what are the requirements and mode of travel choices? I also have two cats that have up to date 'passports' and I will be travelling from Brittany. Can you suggest the best route (plane or ferry) for two nervous cats? Thank you! -Marie

Hi Marie! When traveling from France to the UK, you'll need to take into account the Pet Import Requirements for the UK. Many cats feel nervous about traveling, so it's best to start getting them used to their travel crates well in advance of the trip. Here are a few cat travel tips from our blog. Contact the ferry company as well as the airline to see how they handle pets -- this should help you decide which route to take.

Traveling with birds can be a little tricky, so we'd recommend reading up on the regulations and contacting the authorities in the Isle of Wight to make sure you'll be able to bring your hen. We've discussed a few bird travel basics on our blog, as well.

Good luck with everything, and please contact us if you'd like some help planning your move!
