Dog Travel from Africa to Australia

Dear PetRelocation,

Can this move be done? If so, how? We are looking at a role in Dakar but only prepared to consider if we have an exit strategy for our pooch. Also, if emergency evacuation was required, ( i.e. cannot provide time as would be required to return to Australia), is there a movement option?

Hi Shari,

Unfortunately it's not possible to move a dog directly to Australia from Senegal. Australia is strict about import rules because of its rabies-free status and Senegal is considered a "non-approved" country, so you'd have to bring your dog to an approved nation for a few weeks before going on to Australia. Essentially if you're looking to create an evacuation plan, it would have to be to a country that allows direct pet importation from Senegal.
