Dog Travel from Malta to the United States

Name: Mike
Number of Pets: 1
Pet Type: Dog
Pet Breed: Miniature Pinscher
From: Malta
To: U.S.

Dear PetRelocation,

Do I need anything in addition to:
1. International Health Certificate from a Vet within 10 days of departure stating he is healthy and okay to fly.
2. Microchip (already done).
3. Rabies Vaccination at least 30 days prior to departure.

I don't think anything is necessary re: screwworm, as he is coming from Malta. Is there anything else I need?

Please advise.

Thanks,
Mike

Hi Mike,

Thanks for the question -- it sounds like you're in great shape as far as being prepared for your dog's move. Taking a look at the pet import requirements for the United States, you can see that you have covered all the basics.

The only other thing we'd suggest is to book a flight with a pet friendly airline (we typically use KLM, Lufthansa and United), and also work to help your dog to feel comfortable in his crate if he's not used to traveling. Take a look at our blog for more frequently discussed pet travel topics to help yourself prepare even further.

If you have more questions, feel free to contact us. If not, good luck and have a great trip!
