Hi PetRelocation,
What steps would I have to go through to move our dogs with us to London? Is this a pet-friendly place (will we be able to find a place to live with our dogs)?

Thanks,
Erin

Hi Erin,

Moving your dogs to London from Texas is definitely attainable -- we've helped many pets make this relocation safely and smoothly. In fact, British Airways recently added a pet-friendly direct flight from Austin to London and maybe you can take advantage of it!

To start, please carefully read over the pet import requirements for the UK. There are a few items (vaccines, health certificates, etc.) that you'll need to take care of, but there is no quarantine upon arrival for pets who follow the stated rules. For general advice, please take a look at this pet travel overview.

For pets arriving in London, we also like to share this look at the customs clearance process at the Heathrow Animal Reception Center. Watching this video about the HARC will help you to understand what to expect when your pets land and hopefully remove any mystery that might make this seem like an overly stressful part of the process.

Again, we've helped many pets move to London and we've received many positive post-move updates from them about life in and around the city with pets. For example, here's a look at Peach's move to London, Naboo's trip to the UK and Holly and Geoff's Pet Move of the Month feature. Hopefully these pet travel stories are helpful and illuminating.

Feel free to contact us if you think you'd like some help arranging your move. Thanks for reaching out and good luck!
