I need to bring a puppy from Belarus to the USA, and I know they need a health certificate, etc..., but does the puppy have to have a rabies vaccine (and therefore be older than 3 months) to leave the country or to be accepted by most airlines? Which airlines do not require puppies to have rabies vaccines to fly? -Jane

Hi Jane,

Check out the Import Requirements for the United States for an idea of the paperwork that's required. You're right about needing a health certificate as well as a few other documents, and while it should be possible to enter the US with a puppy who is too young for a rabies vaccine, it would be wise to check with the airlines directly to find out about individual policies regarding shipping puppies. Also, you might want to check with the US Department of Agriculture as well to find out about possible quarantines and restrictions upon arrival.

Please let us know if you have more questions or if you'd like some help arranging your trip. Good luck, Jane!
