“How Much to Ship a Puppy?” Puppy Scams Cost Pet Lovers Thousands

Be Careful When Buying Puppies Online

You've gone online to search for a puppy and stumbled across a free Yorkie puppy named "Romeo."  Or maybe it's an adorable English Bulldog puppy with droopy eyes, or a free Pomeranian puppy named "Candy."  It might even be a free Persian or Siberian kitten or an African Grey Parrot.

The best part? The owners of the pet aren't asking for any money -- except for the shipping costs.

Sometimes there's a sad story that goes along with the puppies, too. The puppy's owner will tell you that their daughter died and it was her puppy, or that they are adopting an orphan and won't have time to care for the puppy.

They'll probably ask you some questions meant to pull at your heartstrings and make you want to qualify to get this free puppy:

  • "Where are you located?"
  • "Are you a breeder?"
  • "Do you have kids?"
  • "Can you also promise that you will take good care of him/her?"

But they want some money to ship the puppy, and they want it sent through Western Union or MoneyGram. Many times they want you to send this money to somewhere like Cameroon, or sometimes it will be California or another US state.

Every day, PetRelocation takes phone calls from people who have been victims of puppy scams. It all seems so reasonable, just to pay the shipping costs. People want to know how much PetRelocation will charge to arrange the shipping and we have to explain that there is no puppy. The puppy scammers will not release the puppy to a reputable company like ours because the puppy does not exist. They only want to get your money, however small amount, in cash.

Here are some names of fraudulent companies and email addresses we have identified:

I responded to an add in a paper and got this email today..funny..the puppies are named Adam and Eve and I was sent lovely pictures of them.  I declined and now am wondering if like the letters above it is a scam.  I suspect so..too many coincidences.  Thanks for this website!

Hello Sandy

I sent the breeder to find a caring parent for my babies. I use to live in the USA before I got a divine call to serve God and humainty here in West Africa and this gave me little or no time for my babies. The weather here is also not lenient with my babies. They hardly come outside with me because of the weather. I want to get them adopted back to the USA where they will be sent back to the weather they were acquainted with before. My babies are 3months old, they are AKC registered, current on all shots. health certified. Loves to be cuddled and loves to play. They are home trained.I am asking $900 for my two babies including the shipping fee to the state, and only one for $500 including shipping fee.You will promise me that you will be sending their pictures to me in every 2months as an update with regards to how they are doing with you. I love them so much but they will be missed. Please treat them as though they were your babies. Their names are Adam and Eve
I am attaching their pictures for you to view them.
I can't wait to hear from you
God bless you

Well I recieved this email today from crystal_sipping@yahoo.com What a scam. I would of loved to buy these puppies. =(

Hello thanks for the concerned and your interest in my puppies. They are  potty trained , A.k.c registered , vet checked and will come with all papers needed . these puppies are very playful and  also good with kids and other household pets. they have a wonderful  temperament. They are 13weeks old and they presently weigh 10 lbs and will weigh 53-55 pounds when fully grown. i am looking for a new home for them where they will be spoiled to rotten because we just moved into a new and non pet apartment in Limbe-Cameroon.i am asking just $200 for the transportation of each puppy from cameroon to your location. one is a male and the other is a female, they are called precious and Eddie.precious is the female and Eddie is the male.i wish to know if you are interested in both puppies or just one.but i will prefer that you take both puppies since they have been together since they were born and separating them will not be a good idea.please permit me pose a few questions.were are you located?are you a breeder?are you sure you will be able to take care of them? how soon do you need them? below are Precious and Eddie's pictures
thanks and waiting to read from you.
