New Pet Import Fees for Australia!

Petrelocation.com - If you are planning on shipping your pets to Australia after July 1, 2008 - please read below as it pertains to the costs and changes in procedures.

Please note the following proposed amendments to the AQIS fees and charges for Import Permits Applications and Assessments for the Australian Government.

These amendments have been made following consultation between the Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service (AQIS) Import Clearance Program and the AQIS/ Industry Cargo Consultative Committee (AICCC) Working Group on Revenue Collection and Cost Recovery Arrangements.

It is proposed that the new fees will be implemented from 1 July 2008, and are as follows:

Assessment of Live Animal or Reproductive Material application:

Animal reproductive material; live animals, including the first cat or dog in a consignment, but not subsequent cats or dogs in a consignment.

1 Assessable Item = $200.00 in addition to applicable lodgement fee

Maximum time taken is 3 hours. For each quarter hour, or part of a quarter hour, after the 3-hour period the service charge of $35.50 will apply.

Assessment for each additional dog or cat application:

Cats or dogs, other than the first cat or dog in a consignment

1 Assessable Item = $80.00 in addition to applicable lodgement fee

Maximum time taken is 1 hour. For each quarter hour, or part of a quarter hour, after the 1-hour period the service charge of $35.50 applies.


Payment for import permit applications for live animals and reproductive material can be made via American Express, Visa and MasterCard credit cards. Cheques must be made out to the ֓Collector of Public Monies AQIS֔.
