Pet Travel: From Costa Rica to Mexico (with a Miami layover)
Name: Desiree S.
Number of Pets: 1
Pet Type: dog
Pet Breed: mixed
From: Costa Rica
I am flying with American Airlines from Costa Rica to Mexico, with a 3 hour stop in Miami. In addition to the Mexican paperwork required, are there any additional certificates required to bring my dog in transit to the US? Is it safe for my dog to be in transit? Is there any inspection process in the US my dog will have to go through? My biggest concern is that something might happen to him while in transit or him losing the flight. Thanks in advance, -Desiree
Your concerns are understandable - traveling with a pet can be an overwhelming experience! Generally speaking, if you have met all the Mexico Pet Import Rules and Requirements then you should be fine for this trip, but it would be wise to check with American Airlines to see what they have to say about your Miami layover.
