Pet Travel Question: Can Cats Move to Jamaica?

Name: Lori
Number of Pets: 4
Pet Type: Cats
Pet Breed: House Cats
From: New York
To: Jamaica, West Indies

I read online that cats that have been vaccinated are not allowed in Jamaica... is that true? Why? If not what are the requirements to move cats to Jamaica from the US?

Thank You for your help,
Lori

Hi Lori,

Thanks for the question. Jamaica indeed has a strict animal import policy -- only pets born and raised in Great Britain or Ireland who have never been vaccinated against rabies are allowed entry into the country. You can read more about this on our blog, and here is a link to the official Jamaica web site.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, Lori. Rabies-free countries such as Jamaica certainly make international pet travel challenging (and in this case impossible).

Please contact us if you have any more questions, and good luck with everything!
