Pet Travel Question: Exporting a Cat from the US

Name: Natalia
Number of Pets: 1
Pet Type: Cat
Pet Breed: Tabby
From: Tampa, FL
To: Bogota, Colombia

My kitten is about three months old, and we are traveling to Colombia. She recently got her rabies vaccine, and my current vet is not USDA certified to sign/complete a health certificate as is requested by JetBlue (the airline I will be traveling with). If I go to a certified vet and complete this health certificate, do I have to send this certificate somewhere or just show it to the airline?

Hi Natalia,

Thanks for your question, we hope we can help. Here are the pet import requirements for Colombia. As you'll see, in addition to being completed by a USDA-accredited vet, the vet health certificate must also be endorsed by the USDA. Your pet relocation specialist can help you to complete this step if you decide to take advantage of our services, or the USDA site can direct you otherwise.

Please contact us if you have any more questions, and good luck with your move!
