Pet Travel Question: How to Transport Mice

Name: Aditya S.
Number of Pets: 2
Pet Type: Mice / Mouse / Rodent
Pet Breed: Fancy Mice
From: Berlin, Germany
To: Evanston, IL

I bought some mice while living in Germany for two years and want to bring them back with me. I tried looking and could not find information about moving pet rodents between countries. These mice were born in captivity and bought from a pet store. As far as I can tell, I should be able to bring them on the plane with me to the US. Am I correct that I can bring them back with me, and do I need a pet passport?

Hello Aditya,

Thanks for contacting us with your question. To start, take a look at our Guide to Moving an Exotic Species (basically anything that's not a cat or dog). This should direct you to check the CITES Species database for further instructions surrounding the documents you'll need to secure in order to transport your pets.

Please contact us if you encounter any difficulties, as one of our Pet Relocation Specialists would be happy to assist you. Good luck with everything!
