Pet Travel Question: Is This a Scam?

Pet Breed: Persian
From: Helena, MT
To: Harrisburg, PA
I have been in contact via email regarding a free Persian kitten, and have been told that it would be shipped via IATA Pet Transport. Supposedly all I have to do is pay for the shipping cost of $150.00. Is there actually such a company that does this in Helena, MT? Is this a scam?

Unfortunately this does sound like a pet scam. Often when you're in contact with someone giving away a "free pet" who is asking you to send money for shipping, there's really no pet at all. It's better to do business locally and be suspicious of anyone who asks you to wire money via Western Union. If you're looking for a new cat to add to the family, we suggest adopting one from your local shelter!
