Pet Travel Question: Moving a Dog to the Netherlands

Hi,

We are in the first stages of discussing moving to Amsterdam for my husband's job. I am not sure if it will happen, but I wanted to investigate getting our 5-year-old dog Rufus there and am nervous about flying a dog. We are still in the early stages of planning, but I wanted to be prepared for Rufus and am hoping you could provide some insight and how your company works and what to expect.
Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you.

Lizzie

Hi Lizzie,

Thanks for your questions, we'd be happy to offer some information. Pet travel definitely requires some advance planning, so you're correct in getting started early.

First, take a look at the pet import requirements for the Netherlands. You'll see that your dog needs a microchip and several up-to-date vaccines. You'll also want to book Rufus' flight with a pet-friendly airline (we often use KLM and Lufthansa for international flights) and you'll need a roomy, airline-approved travel crate.

This is just a brief overview, Lizzie, and it's expected that you'll have more questions. PetRelocation arranges the door-to-door logistics for pet moves like this one, so if you're interested in hiring us to handle the move you can fill out our free quote form to receive a price estimate.

We look forward to hearing from you soon, and thanks again for contacting us!
