Pet Travel Question: Moving an Older Dog

Name: Cindy
From: Manheim, PA, USA
To: Gilbert, AZ, USA
Pet: Hope is a 10-year-old mixed breed (Dalmatian/Lab/Border Collie)

We are moving from East PA to Arizona. How soon do we need to get our dog's shots? Also, we will be moving in with our daughter, and she has dogs there. Not sure how Hope will react to this, as she has been the only dog for 10 years.

Thanks,
Cindy

Hi Cindy,

Thanks for contacting us with your pet travel question! These are the rules for moving pets within the United States. You'll need to make sure your rabies vaccines are up to date and have a vet health certificate issued within 10 days of departure. As far as your other concerns, here are a few tips for moving older dogs. Often pets are very resilient, but it's never a bad idea to talk to your vet if you're wondering about your dog's physical and mental well-being.

Please contact PetRelocation.com if you have any more questions, and good luck with everything!
