Pet Travel Question: Rabies vaccines for pet travel to korea

Name: Jessica
Number of Pets: 1
Pet Type: Dog
Pet Breed: Mixed-Shiba Inu
From: New York City
To: South Korea

My dog received a three-year rabies vaccine in fall 2008. We were planning on leaving for Korea in summer in 2010, so the vet gave her a new rabies vaccine that was a two-year. Now we are considering actually going. Does she need to get another rabies vaccine, being that her two-year one is 15 months old? Is it dangerous to be giving her more?

Thanks!
Jessica

Hi Jessica,

Thanks for contacting us!. The rules for bringing pets to Korea will actually soon be changing, so depending on when you wanted to leave, you may need to alter your preparations. Take a look at the new pet import rules for Korea, and please check with your vet regarding any health concerns you may have about vaccinations for your dog.
