Pet Travel Question: Relocating a Bird to the United States

Name: Belinda
Number of Pets: 1
Pet Type: Parrot
Pet Breed: Quaker Parrot
From: United Kingdom
To: Florida, USA

Hi, I have just a few of questions please...

1. What papers do I need to move my Parrot with me permanently to Florida from the UK?
2. How long will he be in quarantine?
3. Am I allowed to go and visit and play with him while he is in quarantine?
4. If I took a private flight out of the UK to Florida would he be able to travel with me on the plane and be picked up by the quarantine group upon my landing in Florida?

Thank you,

Belinda

Hi Belinda,

Thanks so much for your question. Moving birds is definitely a little bit tricky, so it's smart to start researching well in advance of your move. Here is some information about importing birds to the United States as well as some general helpful hints for planning a bird move. These links should shed some light on possible quarantine details (you may just be able to keep your bird at home), etc.

Hopefully these resources will get you off on the right track, and if you have more questions or if you'd like some help with your move, you're welcome to contact PetRelocation.com any time.
