Pet Travel Question: Shipping a Dog to the Philippines

Hello PetRelocation,

What are the requirements for moving our dog overseas from the United States to the Philippines?

Hi Kathy,

Thanks for your question. Check out the pet import requirements for the Philippines for an idea of what documentation is necessary in order to bring a dog into the Philippines.

You'll see that your dog will need a microchip, a rabies vaccination with certificate, and a health certificate issued by your vet within 10 days of your dog's flight. The trickiest part about the Philippines' import requirements is the fact that you'll need to get these documents endorsed by the USDA. Check here to find the location of your local branch of the USDA.

In addition to meeting these national import requirements, your airline will require you to purchase an airline-approved travel crate for your dog if you don't already own one. This is to ensure your dog's comfort and safety on the long flight to the Philippines.

Hopefully this starts you off in the right direction! If you'd like to learn more about our door-to-door pet transport services, fill out our online consultation form.

Thanks again for your question and good luck with your move!

I understand there is a quarantine for taking a dog to the Phillipines. Is this quarantine in the Philippines or point of origin?

By Maegan at PetRelocation on June 18, 2018 at 10:12 am

Hi Jason! Thank you for your inquiry and for the opportunity to assist in your research. Although it would be our pleasure to assist with the relocation, I must be transparent and mention we are fully booked through the first two weeks of August. This is our peak season and we already have commitments to other clients before this time. If you need assistance by June, my recommendation is that you refer to the International Pet and Animal Transportation Associate (IPATA) to find a company based in The Philippines that can assist. Good luck to you!
